By understanding the unsolved clinical impact of calcified coronary lesions, which might lead to a stent underexpanison, in-stent restenosis, chronic total occlusions or challenges within lesion preparation, the ground-breaking concept to design and manufacture a special device to overcome the clinical challenge effectively and safely was born.
The first prototype of the OPN NC was manufactured in Winterthur, Switzerland, following the creative idea to apply Super-High Pressure up to 35 atm delivered on a TWIN-Wall non-compliant PTCA balloon to the severely calcified lesions. Followed by a successful market adoption from the Swiss interventional cardiologists, many other international physicians adopted this special device with growing demand until today.
Over the time SIS Medical extended its product portfolio by EasyT, a high-pressure non-compliant PTCA balloon for lesion pre-dilatation and soft plaque modifications, and by the NIC hydro PTCA balloons family, which consists of two non-compliant balloons allowing physicians to enter very small lesions and complex cases like chronic total occlusions.
Today SIS Medical is located in Frauenfeld, Switzerland, using a more contemporary facility for its manufacturing, development and corporate functions.
SIS Medical is a private-held company and its major shareholder is SHS Investment Group (www.shs-capital.eu), who acquired the organization in 2015.
